Real Estate Internship in Europe Connects Student and Alumnus

Aase & TacotFlorida State University takes pride in their ability to connect alumni with current students. In the summer of 2014, FSU facilitated the connection between alumnus George Aase and John Charles (J.C.) Tacot, a senior at FSU pursuing a double-major in real estate and finance. This connection, fostered by the FSU Real Estate Center, created an opportunity for J.C. to secure an internship with Point Park Properties in Prague, Czech Republic, for the summer of 2014.

Point Park Properties, or P3, is a portfolio company of TPG and is headquartered in Prague. The company manages a pan-European portfolio of logistic warehouse properties valued at over € 1.5 Billion. P3 owns 141 warehouses in nine countries with a land bank of over 7,000,000 square feet being held for future development. P3 provides warehouse space to a broad array of clients, such as DHL, Yusen Logistics and VF Corporation (owner of brands like Wrangler Jeans, Vans and The North Face).

J.C. worked directly with the P3’s senior asset manager in monitoring the status of existing assets and preparing forecasts of future performance. During J.C.’s time at P3, the company acquired four new properties in Italy valued at over €250 Million and has since completed acquisitions valued at over $1 billion. “I was thrilled to be able to have J.C. come to Prague for the summer and work with the asset management and finance teams. This was a defining period in our company´s history and J.C. was right in the middle of it! Not only did he help our team greatly during this period, I believe he got a lot out of the experience both professionally as well as personally,” said George Aase, CFO of P3.

This type of experience is an example of the many ways that alumni can connect and support current students. Internships provide much needed hands-on experience for current students and are invaluable assets to any resume. The alumni-student connections that are facilitated by FSU help propel students into their chosen career path and help set the program apart from other universities.
