2008 Real Estate Networking & Trends Conference - Recap

A capacity crowd of over 500 attended the 14th annual FSU Real Estate Trends & Networking Conference, Nov. 6 & 7, 2008.

P.J. O’Rourke, best-selling author and political satirist, opened the event on Thursday evening. Todd Mansfield, Chairman & CEO, Crosland; James Senesff, Jr., Chairman & CEO, CNL Financial Group, and Tom Sittema, Managing Director & Sector Head of Real Estate, Banc of America Securities offer their perspective on emerging opportunities in the plenary CEO session. Bob Basham, Co-founder, Outback Steakhouse & Vice Chair of OSI Restaurant Partners, LLC was the featured speaker at the closing on Friday. The conference also included numerous breakout sessions that highlighted critical trends and issues faced by the industry.

The following 2008-09 scholarship recipients were recognized:

  • Joan Raley, REALTOR Scholarships – Jonathan Baker and Michael Willinger; 
  • Crossman & Company Endowed Scholarship – Valerie Boyd; 
  • Teel, Teel & Hatcher Endowed Scholarship – Ashton Bligh and Joshua Kucher; 
  • James Rudnick and Donald Carrigan Endowed Scholarship – Jacob Cremer; 
  • Mark Hillis and Nan Casper Hillis Endowed Scholarship – Jessie Williams; 
  • Appraisal Institute National Scholarship – Ashton Bligh, Christopher Cibula and Jacqueline Cunha;

The following 2008 Outstanding Student Graduate Award recipients were announced:

  • Jonathan Dickson; 
  • Jordon Donaldson; 
  • and Andrea Torrico.

This award is given annually to two or three students who graduated the previous year, who exemplify the outstanding academic excellence and personal character we hope to see in our program’s graduates.
